Strengthening of Exhaust Gas Regulations

In conjunction with heightened global environmental awareness, exhaust gas regulations will become increasingly strict in North America and Europe. Furthermore, emerging nations are also planning to strengthen exhaust gas regulations in conformance with European standards.

Furthermore, through the implementation of the Worldwide harmonized Light vehicles Test Procedure (WLTP), exhaust gas testing conditions will become increasingly strict. The implementation of particulate matter (PM) regulations for gasoline vehicles is also planned.

Strengthening of Fuel Economy Regulations (CO2 emissions regulations)

In response to global warming, it is necessary to reduce the amount of CO2 emissions from automobiles. Improved fuel economy is becoming increasingly important as a measure for reducing emissions. Accordingly, strengthening of emissions regulations is planned.

In response to the strengthening of exhaust gas regulations and fuel economy regulations, automotive manufacturers are working to develop new types of engines. A variety of catalysts must be developed in order to support these new engines.

Normally-aspirated (NA) Engine (existing type)

We are developing and supplying three-way catalysts (TWC) which achieve superior purification of exhaust gas and use smaller amounts of precious metal when compared to conventional catalysts.

Hybrid, Plug-in Hybrid

We are developing and supplying three-way catalysts (TWC) which achieve superior purification of exhaust gas and use smaller amounts of precious metal when compared to conventional catalysts.

Direct Injection (DI) Engine

In addition to the development and supply of high-performance TWC catalysts, we also supply gasoline particulate filter (GPF) catalysts which are integrated with TWC catalysts in order to comply with PM regulations.

Downsizing Turbo Engine

We also supply catalysts which achieve improved removal performance for NOx and HC.

Lean Burn Engine

We excel at the development of lean NOx trap (LNT) catalysts which support lean burn engines in compliance with strengthened emissions regulations.
